An Evolved Perspective on Diet and Lifestyle
You might have once believed—or maybe you still do—that being “healthy” or “fit” or “skinny” was a fixed trait that people were either born with or not. They either “get it,” or it’s “in their genes,” or they have some inborn unshakable “willpower,” all of which you (unfortunately) don’t possess…which is why you can’t have the life you want.
I’m going to prove that limiting belief wrong.
I’m going to show you why losing weight and mastering your diet is a dynamic skill that can be cultivated and developed quite easily with basic training, no matter where you’re starting.
Who the hell am I? Well, first and foremost, I’m a coach. You can learn more about me here.
I’m not your typical “online diet guy.” And I don’t want to be thought of as one. I’m not interested in helping you lose 10 pounds as quickly as possible and then wishing you good luck. I’m interested in helping you heal your relationship with food and master your diet once and for all — which really means learning how to master yourself.
I’m on a mission to help you take back control of food’s power over you.
From a very young age we’re taught to eat bad foods, become dependent on them, and then years later try to diet away our “sins.”
It simply does not work.
Our relationship with food is far more complex than that.
Many of us have deeply ingrained, life-long emotional relationships with food. We’ve endowed food with a responsibility it was never intended for—either to make us feel good or to displace boredom, or because we’re lonely or sad.
Others of us have serious food fixations and sugar dependencies. We’re addicted and don’t even know it. We don’t call it that, of course—because addiction is a scary word, and you can buy your packaged drug of choice at every grocery store in America.
Our relationship with food needs healing
Emotional eating, compulsive eating, binge eating, sugar addiction…these are all serious issues, and we all have them to various degrees.
But they can be solved. You can take back control, I promise you that.
But it requires you to make a choice that you’re ready for a change…not only that you are ready, but you are willing to invest in a long-term approach versus another short term quick fix solution that doesn’t work and leaves you feeling hopeless.
Going on another bullshit diet is not the solution.
I like to think of dieting as like cramming for a test. You might pass the test but what did you get out of it? Did you actually learn anything?
Of course not. And the way you’ve gone about dieting your entire life is proof. From the ridiculous routines, the food you eat, the perfectionist attitude you inhabit. It’s why you’ve failed in the past. It’s why “successful” dieters suffer from such high rates of recidivism.
Not only is dieting not the answer to your problems…but looking at your diet alone isn’t enough.
Your diet is just one piece of the puzzle of living healthily.
The food you eat is important, of course, but mastering your diet is really about everything else: your mindset, your attitude toward learning, your willingness to sacrifice immediate results for long-term success, your motivation, your planning, your preparation, and most importantly your habits…the way you carry yourself in the world…the specific patterns in which you automatically do things.
Most people know what is and isn’t healthy…You don’t need some guy on the internet to tell you that.
You don’t need another diet book to tell you what to eat. Yes, there are nuances, of course, and I have my own particular style – but being healthy isn’t some great big secret.
Accessing the right information is not the barrier to your success. It’s the following through, day after day after day, making choices that are good for you, day after day, even when the initial motivation of “I’m on this new diet” thing dies out. Especially then. Because it always dies out.
That’s why you haven’t been successful in the past. Because what do you do when you don’t feel motivated any longer? How do you continue to stay healthy, especially when there’s all these distractions and temptations coming your way?

Yeah…great…but what do I eat?
As far as nutrition is concerned, evolution is our guide. I advocate what nature provides: fresh, unprocessed, unmodified, organic foods. Quality food is preventative care. Quality is my passion. That means we’ll revert back to evolutionary basics.
If it was grown or born on earth, then it’s probably okay to eat. Our genes and physiology evolved through the process of natural selection and are most adapted to be nourished with the food that we evolved around.

Our genes want us to be lean and fit.
It’s actually quite easy as long as we eat from the long list of natural foods you can find in nature and avoid, in large, grain-laden, sugary, processed and otherwise unnatural foods. If you treat your diet as an enemy, something you have to battle each and every day, ultimately you’re going to lose. This pathology sets you up for failure from the start. You want to work with, not against, yourself. No war to be waged here.
Food is not your enemy.
At EvolutionEat, we don’t go hungry. Again, this is not a diet but a way of life. By keeping full and energized, you won’t feel like you’re making such a “sacrifice” that dieting typically inspires. In fact, at the beginning of your evolution I suggest that you eat way more of the good stuff and never feel tempted by the bad. That’s an important operating principle to live by. The idea is to feel inspired by the process, to enjoy it, to look forward to it, to cultivate a new and rewarding relationship with food.
The idea is not to restrict and count points and count calories and obsess about the bullshit.
Going on another diet is not the solution.
Obesity, overweight, emotional eating, sugar dependencies—they’re all fixable, and anyone who tells you that you have to starve yourself and exercise until your joints hurt to lose weight and “be healthy” is full of it.
We’re going to do just the opposite: eat good food and plenty of it. We’re going to reform your relationship with food. It will change your life.
